Nice   to meet you!

I'm Ellen, and I work with children, young people, and their families when they need a bit of support with some of life's challenges.

I trained at the University of Cambridge. where I completed a three-year, level 7, UKCP-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling.  This was a thorough and rigorous training programme which prepares counsellors to work at depth specifically with children and young people.

I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and have also registered with the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA) in order to work towards accreditation with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).  In my work I adhere to the UKCP's ethical principles and guidelines, which can be found here.

As a integrative counsellor, I understand that the key to successful therapy is building a good working relationship with children & young people, so that they feel supported and safe.

In my work, I am mindful of attachment theory, psycho-dynamic approaches, and recent discoveries in neuroscience. I integrate play, arts & crafts, psycho-education, story-telling and conversation to help clients explore and express their feelings within the context of a warm therapeutic relationship.

I work therapeutically too with families, helping them develop healthy communication, emotional regulation, and positive parenting skills.

I have an enhanced DBS and subscribe to the update service.

I am fully insured against malpractice/professional liability, public liability and products liability and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
